Visiting Sangam and Mekedatu again after a year

Sangama is about 95 kms from bangalore, the place of confluence of two rivers – Arkavathi and Kaveri (Cauvery). Mekedatu is about 5 kms on the other side of the river. We had visited the place last year and liked much. Incidentally we visited the place again this year. However, the visit was still interesting.

Muthathi and Bheemeshwari, the Kaveri water spots about 100 kms from Bangalore

Muthathi is a beautiful place near Kavery river surrounded by hills. It is about 100 kms from bangalore and good for a single day trip. You may combine Sangama, Mekedatu or Chunchi falls on the same journey along with Muthathi.

Celebrating Mary's Feast in Bangalore

Mary’s Feast is the birthday of mother Mary. This day is celebrated highly in different places. In Bangalore there is a grand celebration in the St. Mary’s Basilica, in Shivaji Nagar. On the last day of the 10 day celebration, an Idol of mother Mary in carried on a chariot in a grand procession.

The Shiva statue in Bangalore

The shiva statue is located in the old airport road of Bangalore. The statue is 65 feet high and the tallest shiva statue in Bangalore. Lord shiva is sitting in a meditating position on the kailash mountain and river ganges is flowing out of his head. The statue is beautiful and a must see.

Devanahalli Fort and Tipu's Birth Place

Devanahalli is about 35 kms from Bangalore. Now it has become famous for the Bangalore International Airport, one of the largest airport in the country. But before that, since centuries, it was famous as the birth place of Tippu Sultan. Tippu Sultan, the king of Mysore, was born here in 1750 AD.

A visit to Devanahalli Fort

Hello friends, 

We had gone to visit Devanahalli fort yesterday. We searched the place through Internet and went in our car. We left home in the afternoon and started around 3 O’clock. It took us about one hour to reach there.

Sangama and Mekedatu

Sangama is the confluence of two rivers – Arkavathi and Kaveri (Cauvery).  The place is about 95 Kms from Bangalore. Mekedatu is a beautiful place near Sangama. These twin places constitute very interesting single day tour program from Bangalore worth visiting in any season.

Chunchi Falls - the beautiful spot near Bangalore

Chunchi fall is a popular picnic spot  about 90 kms from Bangalore. It is located on river Arkavati before its confluence at Sangama. Although there will be less water in Summer, it still has a beautiful view in every season. It is an adventurous spot and definitely worth visiting.

Beerabhadreshwara Temple near Ramanagaram

Veerabhadreshwara temple is on a small hill located on the road side 12 kms from Ramanagaram on Kanakapura road. It is a beautiful temple on a small hill.  If you are going on Ramanagaram - Kanakapura road, don’t forget to give a halt at this place. Even if you are going on Bangalore-Mysore road it is worth driving 15 kms inside to visit this temple.

Janapadaloka - A journey to Wonderful Folk World

Janapadaloka is about 55 Kms from Bangalore, established on the Bangalore-Mysore highway. This is spread over 15 acres of land. This is a cultural memorial center established in 1994 for the preservation and promotion of local folk culture and traditions. It is a beautiful place to halt while going on Bangalore Mysore highway.

A Trip from Bangalore to Revena Siddheshwar Beta

Revena Siddheshwar beta is famous for Siddheshwar temple. Besides it is also popular for trekking and rock climbing. The place is near Ramanagara, about 65 km. From Bangalore. This is a beautiful place worth visiting from Bangalore or Mysore during weekends.

Ramgad or Ramadevar Beta

Ramdevar beta is popularly known as Ramgad as pictorised in the famous Bollywood film Sholay. The place is a paradise for trekking, rock climbing and photo shooting. There are two temples on the top of the hill, viz, Rama temple and Rameshwar temple.

Maitreya-Buddha Pyramid, Bangalore

From Bangalore City, drive towards south till you reach Kanakapura road (you may take busy shortcut routes or long ring roads depending upon your location in Bangalore.). Now move on Kanakpura Road – the National Highway 209 – towards Kanakpura. After a few kms you will cross NICE ring road. Then after about 18 kms you will find a sign board to take a left turn for Buddha Pyramid.

Thottikallu Falls, A picnic spot near Bangalore

TK falls is not famous. Not many people know about this place. Even I had not heard about this place earlier. I discovered it through Internet. This place is about 35 kms from Bangalore, on a left turn at Kagalpura from Kanakapura road. Last week (March 2012) we made a trip to TK falls.

Agara Hanuman Temple, Bangalore

Agara is in the south east side of Bangalore city. There is a rarely visited lake in Agara known as Agara lake. Agara area has been very well developed during recent years. 

There are quite a few temples in Agara, two of them are notable, one, the Jagannath Temple and the other Hanuman temple. Both of them are build during recent years. The temple is actually small but the statue is extremely large. The 102 feet Gigantic statue of Lord hanuman is standing on a lotus pedestal.
